GROUP DESCRIPTION
Teens will learn and practice skills from Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), an evidence-based treatment, to effectively regulate their emotions, deal with stress, and manage their relationships. Skills will include mindfulness, emotional regulation, distress tolerance, and interpersonal effectiveness. Some of the main mental health conditions treated with DBT include, but are not limited to the following:
- Eating disorders
- Borderline personality disorder (BPD)
- Generalized anxiety
- Suicidal ideation
- Self-harm
- Depression
- Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)
- Substance use disorder
Teens will also get the benefit of participating in an online community, where they will be able to share experiences and connect with others for support and companionship.
Note: This group is not meant to be psychotherapyor a replacement for psychotherapy. Teens will be expected to have at least one supporting provider- MD, RD, or therapist. Prior to the first group meeting, all participants will complete a phone consultation to determine eligibility, current needs, and to help us create a more personalized group experience.
